The main architectural styles of early Monrovia are listed below. Within each of
these architectural styles are subtypes, and determining exactly what the primary
architectural style of a structure is sometimes difficult. The administrators of
this site refer as needed to professional references in determining the predominant
architectural style of structures, always keeping in mind that early Southern California
citrus communities applied their own spin to nationally popular architecture. Some of
the sources used are listed at the bottom of this screen.
At this time, our research is confined to the Town of Monrovia Subdivision from
1885-1900. Because these years correspond to the Victorian period, only the Victorian
architectural style category contains any structures. Eventually all categories will
contain structures.
Select one of the architectural styles below for a list of Monrovia addresses which
were/are built in that style.
